For Immediate Release

NetGuardians and the School of Management and Engineering Vaud join forces for the first Fraud Analytics.AI Conference

Yverdon-les-Bains, 8th October 2019 – A unique event in Switzerland, the inaugural Fraud Analytics.AI conference is set to gather renowned data scientists and experts from the worlds of banking, insurance and academia. The event will take place at Y-Parc Swiss Technopole in Yverdon-les-Bains on Thursday 31st October from 1pm to 7pm.

In an era of digital change, new technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning are becoming vital allies for financial institutions, particularly when it comes to fraud prevention. Co-organised by NetGuardians, one of Switzerland’s top-rated FinTech companies, and the School of Management and Engineering Vaud (HEIG-VD), Fraud Analytics.AI is the first conference in the country to address this topic.

An expert from INTERPOL as a keynote speaker

Travelling from Singapore, Jung Kee You will open the discussion. The Criminal Intelligence Officer at INTERPOL will shed light on the collaboration between the intergovernmental organisation and international police authorities and outline real fraud cases and how artificial intelligence is used to combat financial crime.

Six other distinguished speakers will follow: data strategy expert Assia Garbinato, Kim Leng Chhun, Business Intelligence Designer and Data Scientist at La Vaudoise, l’Université Libre de Bruxelles professor Gianluca Bontempi, Stephan Singh, Head of regulatory and strategic projects at bank Pictet, Viton Vitanis, Head of Risk Analytics at Viseca Card Services and Michel Dacorogna, Partner at Prime Re Solutions and lecturer at ETHZ Zurich. Each of them will draw on their expertise to examine different aspects of the topic, from machine learning to data analysis and banking and insurance fraud.

The event will close with a round table discussion on “Fraudsters versus data scientists, who is winning?”

A perfect ecosystem

Fraud Analytics.AI will take place at Y-Parc Swiss Technopole. It was a natural choice, as CEO of NetGuardians Joël Winteregg explains: “Y-Parc appeared to be the most appropriate location to hold this type of event because it’s a technology hub with an ecosystem of several businesses and start-ups developing artificial intelligence solutions to combat financial crime.”

A long-time resident at Y-Parc, NetGuardians is joining forces with the School of Management and Engineering Vaud for the event. Stephan Robert, professor at its Institute for Information and Communication Technologies says: “NetGuardians started as a spin-off of the School of Management and Engineering. Its COO and co-founder Raffael Maio was one of my graduate students at the time. We have worked together on a number of research projects for some years now and we are delighted to be able to organise this conference with NetGuardians on this very specific, current and fascinating topic.”
